Can Label
For this assignment I had to create a can label for anything I want. I made my can be "tennis in a can". Using a corn label and the can as a reference, I measured width and height of the can. Using publisher I opened a document and created a custom page of the width and height. I googled tennis related pictures, such as the net and set it to be the entire background of the page and lightened the picture so it was easier to see the writing. I then made a small college of pictures, two rackets, tennis sneakers, tennis ball, how to play tennis book, and tennis score cards. All of the pictures were what is included in the can. I googled a barcode, nutrition facts and symbols and inserted them on the document. I used different kinds of objects that had information about the can, such as where to open it and how old you have to be to use it.
Recipe Book
In this assignment, our class had to create a recipe book. Each person had to do two recipes that we could pick. I choose to do Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake. In Publisher I had to open a document 8.5 x 11 an insert another page for each recipe. Then I had to research information about the dessert, like the recipe, preparation time and serving size. I also had to research a picture of each dessert and filter it so it looked like my own. A quater inch from the bottom on the page I had to insert a circle on both pages for the page number, which for me was 11 and 12. When I was done I had to go to the print settings and chose the option multiple pages per sheet so both pages, 11 and 12, would be on the same sheet.
Recipe Book Cover
For this assignment I had to creat a cover page for the recipe book. The cover had to be majority of our own work so I drew cheesecake, ice cream and coffee. THe original background of the picture was white, so in photoshop I painted the background to be purple. When I was finished I saved it as a picture and inserted it into another Publisher document that was 8.5 x 11. I inserted two textboxes and filled them with the colors yellow and pink. I googled a few images to insert on the side of the document. I then inserted another page for the back which was for the dedication page. I dedicated the book to everyone killed and injury during the Boston Marathon and to all the police officers and everyone who helped during the tragic event.
Final Reflection
During the last week of class we made tie-dye shirts. During class we watched a video on how to tie-dye. It showed us the different ways to do it, like the spiral and the V. We had to bring in our own shirts, gloves and bags. I tie-dyed my shirt to have the spiral look. To do this I pinched the spot on the shirt where the heart would be and I twisted it in a spiral. I then four elastics on it and dyed it with different color dyes. After putting it in a bag and letting the dye set, I then rinsed it out and put it in cold water with vinegar in the washer machine. Once the shirt was dryed in the dryer it was all set. In this class I learned many things about Photoshop and Publisher. Many things that I've learned this year could easily be used out of class.
